James Franco and Lana Del Rey Want to Make Insufferable Movie Together

Latest

Hey there, mortal earth creatures. While you were busy being bound by the tethers of normality and your petty 9-t0-5 concerns, two transcendent artists—she of the cemetery and he of something far worse (a college MFA writing program)—have been collaborating with the intention of creating something truly remarkable and awful. Yes, Lana Del Rey and James Franco are trying to make a movie.

“[Lana] has this idea for a film. I want to do it because it’s a little like Sunset Boulevard,” Franco told V Magazine. “A woman is alone in a big house in L.A. She doesn’t want to go out. She starts to go crazy, and becomes paranoid because she feels like people are watching her. Even in her own house. It’s like an awesome B-movie that lives in Lana’s head. It’s about her, and it’s not about her. Just like her music.”

A beautiful, crazy and alluring woman made even more alluring by her beautiful craziness! What a novel concept, particularly among the likes of Lana Del Rey and James Franco. Mind you, I’ve only seen one Franco short film before. It was about a group of thin white girls who hang out on the beach as Franco waxes poetic about summer and films them through various Instagram filters. Needless to say, it was a magical viewing experience and I’m sure this next one will be equally riveting.

…That is, if our puny, uncreative minds are even be able to understand it:

“Lana lives in her art, and when she comes down to earth for interviews, it gets messy, because she isn’t made for this earth,” Franco describes in the V Magazine profile (proving that he, as an interview subject is 100% solid). “She is made to live in the world she creates. She is one who has been so disappointed by life, she had to create her own world. Just let her live in it.”

May we never know the tragedy of getting a record contract at the age of 22.
