The cast of the upcoming crowd-pleaser Hidden Figures went to Washington, DC on Thursday “to highlight the stories of Americans who defied stereotypes and broke glass ceilings to advance human space flight, science, and innovation.” But, if a picture uploaded by the official White House Instagram account is any indication, none of them expected President Obama to show up.
While many of you would have reacted to a surprise appearance by Barack Obama much like Taraji P. Henson—with a gentle grin masking your unprecedented excitement and hands clasped tightly together to prevent yourself from pulling a Kevin McCallister—I would have responded more like Octavia Spencer. Or no, I would have responded exactly like Octavia Spencer.
It’s just the right thing to do.
