In order to make the year-end list, scripts had to be recommended by at least 5 of the almost 300 studio execs polled. Not all of them are necessarily dead — it just means they haven't been produced in 2010. That said, we can certainly make our unsolicited recommendations about which ones belong in the dustbin and which ones should be fast-tracked. Some of them (very few) even have female screenwriters! Other than watching it for trainwreck level dumb, why would Fucking Jane Austen be a good idea? That entire plot is stupefyingly insulting. Austen was a scathing social critique who made her heroine's earn happily ever after by being decent people. P&P is the only unrealistic one class-wise...but that's about it. People keep -interpreting- her work wrong and over romanticizing it because of the time it was written in. Which is the exact opposite of what the works themselves do. Seriously.

That has to be one the most blatantly sexist plots I've read in a long time. Good grief. What is it with some guys hating Austen? Don't like witty dialog? Don't like gender critique? Not into class skewering? Not fond of the female perspective on being property only good for marriage? Then don't read it. That's cool, it's not for everyone. But let's not pretend Austen is responsible for people having unrealistic romance issues. I'd blame princess fairytales for that before I'd blame Austen.
