"Hot Sauce Mom" Convicted Of Child Abuse

Latest

Jessica Beagley, the mom who videotaped herself pouring hot sauce in her son’s mouth and giving him cold showers to get on Dr. Phil‘s “Angry Moms” episode, has been convicted of misdemeanor child abuse. Beagley and her husband, Anchorage police officer Gary Beagley, showed no emotion when the verdict was announced. Sentencing has been scheduled for Monday and Beagley is facing one year in jail, a $10,000 fine and up to 10 years of probation.

Beagley’s lawyer says she reached out to Dr. Phil because she was desperate to find a way to handle her son, a Russian orphan who has psychological and emotional problems. The prosecutor countered in her closing argument, “There is no reason in the world why someone has to hurt a child to get on a reality show.” (Particularly because you aren’t likely to get much help from a guy whose claim to fame is spewing obvious advice in a Texan accent.)
