Hey Dummy, You're Supposed to Remove the Plastic Earring Back

Latest

Your entire life is perhaps a lie.

In August 2015, you were one of million people who discovered that the plastic post on the back of the earring is (allegedly) meant to be removed. That is, if you weren’t one of the million people who already knew. According to teenage sage @Chelsea__Smithh—and the world, apparently—the plastic part of the earring back is a lie.

“After my nineteen years of living, I have now realized that you are supposed to take the plastic part off,” she tweeted.

“Wait, what?” is indeed the proper response.

But wait! Counterpoint: Science says that super heavy earrings buckle under the pressure of a weak earring post so that extra plastic is essential. Us Weekly reports:

“What if the plastic backs are there for a reason?” some users are firing back. Others are even passionately declaring their love for the plastic earring backs, stating that they help give extra support to heavy jewels, distributing the weight equally.

Anyway, enjoy spending the rest of the day ripping the plastic off the backs of your earrings in a fit of rage. Because how could you not know (that this is possibly true).
