Here's Your First Listen of Tom Hiddleston Covering Hank Williams


If you’re a devoted fan of either Tom Hiddleston or Hank Williams (not sure how much overlap we’ve got on that Venn Diagram), you know Loki will be playing the country music icon in the upcoming biopic I Saw the Light. He’s got the facial features, but can he sing worth a damn? Well, here is a sample!

According to The Wrap, Hiddles popped by the Wheatland Music Festival in Remus, Michigan and performed several well-known Williams tunes. You can catch his rendition of “Move It On Over” in the YouTube video above. I would describe his performance as “credible,” though he sounds like he’s perhaps from a different Alabama than the one I know? For comparison:

Of course, “Move It On Over” is relatively accessible as Hank’s songs go; the bigger test would be “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” which Hiddleston performed in a second appearance later in the festival. Sadly, though, there’s no video for us to fight over. You’ll have to make due with this cute pic:
