In April, news broke that Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig had secretly filmed a Lifetime movie that lampooned Lifetime movies. Later, Ferrell and Wiig announced they were “deeply disappointed” by the leak and that the movie, A Deadly Adoption, would be pulled from Lifetime’s schedule.

Two months later, it looks like we were all being played. Lifetime’s A Deadly Adoption is very real, and has a very big poster.

Writes The Hollywood Reporter:

The duo stars in the dramatic thriller as a successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman (played by 90210 alum Jessica Lowndes) in the hopes of adopting her unborn child — then things quickly go awry. The movie is described as a campy, fun, contemporary wink at the genre, and it comes as Lifetime is poised to mark the 25th anniversary of its TV movie business.

In the span of one month, Lifetime will have premiered a new Will Ferrell/Kristen Wiig comedy and the buzzy, critically acclaimed series unReal. Remember when they used to just play Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? and Golden Girls reruns?

I know Lifetime is laughable, but they aired the women’s ice hockey games when they debuted at the Olympics (in the late ‘90s?), and to this hockey-lovin’ gal, that makes them tops in my book.

Also, we had to watch a movie about anorexia in my health class and I’m pretty sure it was a Lifetime movie. It had a girl barfing in Tupperware in the woods. That’s the benefit of a Catholic education - when you don’t have sex ed, show a terrible movie addressing eating disorders instead.
