Gabrielle Giffords & Mark Kelly Will Write A Memoir

Latest

Now that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has been released from the hospital and Mark Kelly has commanded the Endeavour’s final mission, they’ve decided to focus on writing a book. Kelly announced today that he’s retiring from the Navy and NASA, explaining, “Gabrielle is working hard every day on her mission of recovery. I want to be by her side.”

The book will be written with author Jeffrey Zaslow, who worked on Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger’s Highest Duty, and will cover the couple’s courtship, careers, and of course, the Arizona shooting. Kelly told the Associated Press:

“Since Jan. 8, it’s been really touching to us to see how much support there is for Gabby and her recovery, and how much interest there is in how she’s doing and her story. After thinking about it, and talking about it, we decided it was the right thing to do to put our words and our voices on paper and tell our story from our point of view.”
