Fixer Upper is enormously popular, driving home decorating trends across America and reaching the point where its hosts can spin off into any number of other ventures—books, magazines, branded furniture, whatever they want. And the Gaines have just announced that they are done after Season 5. Say what?
People points to a post on the couple’s blog:
“It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last,” they wrote on their blog Tuesday. “While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.”
They also did a short video, posted on their blog and teased here on Twitter.
“Who knows what the future holds, but we’re excited for whatever is around the bend and in the meantime, we will definitely be staying in touch,” their post said.
What? Where are they going? Are they clearing the decks to announce some massive lifestyle deal somewhere else? Is Joanna Gaines finally going to launch a glossy series of guides to entertaining, cooking, and home decorating so literally every mom in America can buy them? Are they planning to just kick around Waco for a while? Did they just hit their dollar amount and say “We’re done”? Is it a talk show? What’s everybody supposed to do with all this shiplap now?
What the hell?
