Deadline reported on Tuesday that Rogue One star Felicity Jones will play young Ruth Bader Ginsburg in On the Basis of Sex, a forthcoming biopic directed by Mimi Leder about the Supreme Court Justice’s life.
It had previously been reported that Natalie Portman would play Ginsburg—the actress told Good Morning America last year that she found the prospect of portraying Ginsburg “extremely inspiring and intimidating”—but apparently that didn’t work out.
One thing the two actresses happen to have in common, aside from both starring in Star Wars franchise films, is that they don’t look anything like Ruth Bader Ginsburg. But I’m willing to suspend disbelief. Hell, you can put young Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a full-on space rebel costume, on any planet in the universe, and I’ll still watch the fuck out of that movie.
The film, however, is unlikely to involve intergalactic adventure, as Deadline reports it, “follows the travels of Ginsburg as she faced numerous obstacles to her fight for equal rights throughout her career.” Yep, that definitely sounds like Earth.
