Eva Longoria on Working in Daytime TV: 'The Men Could Do No Wrong'

Eva Longoria dropped by Late Night With Seth Meyers Tuesday night to promote her show Telenovela, armed with some slightly depressing anecdotes about working on a real-life soap opera.

Longoria, who got her start in shows like General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, told Meyers: “The difference between daytime soaps and nighttime soaps is that in the daytime soaps, the men are the divas.” She recalled a time when her male scene partner kept saying the wrong line, which she was then repeatedly blamed for; “The men could do no wrong,” she concluded.

Looks like she’s getting the last laugh.

“The difference between daytime soaps and nighttime soaps is that in the daytime soaps, the men are the divas.”

I’m not sure how to feel about this because it implies that women are the divas in daytime soaps. Why must there be divas in *any* soaps?
