You might think Dirty Dancing’s status as a beloved classic would ensure nobody dares to remake it, but you would be wrong and also you maybe haven’t been paying attention to the entertainment industry for the last decade: ABC is getting close to green-lighting a TV remake featuring Abigail Breslin.

That’s according to Deadline. It’s all but a go, pending one more casting decision. Fortunately this won’t be a Sound of Music Live!-style stunt but rather a straightforward TV version, and it’ll remain set in the 1960s. The team:

Executive Produced by Allison Shearmur (Lionsgate’s Hunger Games franchise) and Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie, Dirty Dancing was adapted for television by Jessica Sharzer (Scream Queens), with Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) set to direct and Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler, who most recently choreographed the hit Broadway musical Hamilton on board as choreographer.

No matter how good this is, it’ll mostly serve as a reminder how much we all miss Patrick Swayze and Jerry Orbach.

It’s already great. If you’re going to redo it then you have to do SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I’d much rather see this set in the 80’s after the first set of events with Jennifer grey playing the (now) out of touch busy working mother of a teen. They go back to the camp because her family is sick of her busy schedule and the B story will be her falling back in love with her husband and connecting with Her teenage daughter. The A story will be said daughter growing up by dancing and sexing a hot dance instructor just like her mother before her. I. Will. Watch. That.
