Did SNL Rip Off This Muhammad Sketch?

Latest

Saturday Night Live has been accused of plagiarism after a sketch from this week’s episode was discovered to be more than a little similar to a 5-month-old sketch from the Canadian series, This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

The two sketches are about game show contestants who are unwilling to draw the Prophet Muhammad, but the setup isn’t where their similarities end. Both are parodies of Win, Lose, or Draw, both feature grand prizes of $1M, and both end with the correct answer being guessed based on their partner’s unwillingness to draw the subject.

The only differences? SNL’s is nearly three times as long and features unnecessary celebrity impersonations that are not exactly great. Entertainment Weekly reported on the accusations earlier today, and you can watch both sketches below.
