Dad President Obama Is 'Freaked Out' Over Malia Going to College

Latest

Malia Obama will be soon be off to college and POTUS is having major feels over it. President Obama, a dad, got all verklempt on Wednesday while giving a speech at Macomb County Community College in Warren, Michigan.

In the past year, Malia, 17, has toured schools like Stanford, Yale and Harvard but has yet to make her college decision public. During his speech, Obama reminisced about the many “first day of school” moments he’s had with his oldest daughter:

“Just yesterday, Malia started her first day of senior year. You know, I was sitting in her room because I was going to see her off her first day of school. She puts her head on my shoulder and she says, ‘Daddy, you know, you realize this is probably going to be the last time that you ever send me off for my first day of school.’ And I started – I had to look away.”

The thing about kids is that they grow up, right. Obama continued:

“I didn’t want to just be such a crybaby. It makes no sense. Michelle and I are way too young to have daughters who are both almost in college now. So as a parent, I was a little freaked out.”

Malia has meanwhile been interning on the set of Girls and becoming a tastemaker and fashionista in her own right.
