Convicted Killer Seeks 'Prince Charming' On Inmate Pen Pal Service

Latest

Any takers, gentlemen?

Luka Magnotta, convicted killer and purported snuff filmmaker, has been allowed to create a profile on the prisoner pen pal website, Canadian Inmates Connect, Inc. Although he does not have internet access, he was permitted to submit his profile and $35 application fee through an intermediary.

Last December Magnotta was convicted of first-degree murder for killing and dismembering university student Jun Lin, a grisly slaughter that took place in 2012. He is serving a life sentence for his crimes, with the possibility of parole in 25 years.

But what match are prison bars for romance? Magnotta, a former model and porn star, has crafted his profile the way one might curate an OkCupid page: Abercrombie-esque photographs of Magnotta flank the sides, and he makes clear his specifications for any potential suitors. From Magnotta, on Canadian Inmates Connect:

“Seeking single white male, 28-38 years of age, white and in shape. One who is loyal, preferably educated, financially and emotionally stable for a long term committed relationship. If you think you could be my prince charming, send me a detailed letter with at least two photos. Only those I deem compatible will receive a response.”

Unsurprisingly the site urges caution when corresponding with inmates, but its creator, Melissa Fazzina, argues for its potential to rehabilitate those who have committed even the most horrific crimes. Of Magnotta she says, “…I still hold the same stance where I believe everybody is equally able to redeem themselves and hopefully that will happen with him as well.”
