Cockroach Hitchhikers Leave Air Travelers Emotionally Scarred

Latest

AirTran Airways may take home this year’s award for most innovative method of traumatizing travelers. Harry Marsh and his fiancee, Kaitlin Rush, are suing the airline because they say cockroaches scuttled out of air vents and carry-on compartments shortly after their flight from Charlotte to Houston took off. Rush says she felt nauseous on the flight and later they were forced to throw out some of their belongings because they were worried that they’d been infested with cockroaches. They claim that a flight attendant just raised her finger to her lips as if to shush them when they pointed the bugs out.

The couple say they’re entitled to $100,000 from the airline for mental and emotional distress. The suit may have serious legal implications if they win, as it would allow everyone who’se lived in an apartment in New York to sue the city.
