Chihuahuas Get All Fancied Up for 'Dog Vogue' Photo Shoot

Latest

People dress their pets up. It’s weird and sort of barbaric if you think about it for too long, but it’s just a thing people do because people are just overdeveloped primates, so vain about their thumbs and brains that they can’t help making fun of other creatures for their not knowing how to use tools well enough to sew clothes to hide their genitals.

Which brings us to Dog Vogue, a portrait project from photographer Sophie Gamand and pet couturier Anthony Rubio featuring Chihuahuas all gussied up in nice, Chihuahua-sized clothes:

Fascinated by the inherent anthropomorphism of this pet culture, photographer Sophie Gamand embarked on a series of portraits, Dog Vogue, inviting acclaimed pet couturier Anthony Rubio to create unique pieces, and a handful of Chihuahua as models. Using the garments created by the couturier, and styling each photograph carefully, Sophie Gamand photographed the dogs as if they were super models from lush fashion magazines.

Honestly, it seems like the Chihuahuas — which really love attention, especially if it comes from that one special someone they’ve constructed their entire little universe around — are into this, even if it sounds an awful like what Stefan Vanderhoof and Scott Donlan from Best in Show did with their shih tzu rescue calendar.
