NBC has just announced that country singer and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood will portray Maria Von Trapp — the role originally played to perfection by the radiant Julie Andrews — in a TV remake of The Sound of Music. There are no words for what we are feeling about this atrocity. Instead: the Kübler-Ross stages of grief as told through gifs.

DISCUSSION
I may be the odd gal out here, but I really can't stand The Sound of Music. Don't get me wrong - Julie Andrews is my idol, and I love love LOVE musicals. Seeing them live, performing in them (MHS KMK '03, HOLLER), watching movie versions of them, singing along to them in the car, you name it. I've seen Jesus Christ, Superstar live more times than I can count. But I just can't get with TSoM. It doesn't do anything for me, and I find a lot of the songs kind of annoying (except here, because I'm a sucker for a flash mob:
). Anyone with me? Or am I a terrible person?
That said, Carrie Underwood? SERIOUSLY???!!!
