In an “exclusive” interview with Entertainment Tonight, a show that has spent the past decade clinging to life like Rose blowing that whistle at the end of Titanic, Britney Spears promoted her upcoming Piece of Me tour by discussing her diet and workout routine with host Nancy O’Dell. (While it’s more than a little annoying that all O’Dell appears to ask her about is food and working out, it’s all we’ve got to work with, so let’s work with it.)
“This round of shows that we’re doing for the tour... they’re back to back,” Britney says before discussing her workout routine. “So each show is like, I don’t have any time apart besides flying. My show is a workout in itself. So it keeps you really strong.”
O’Dell then asks for specifics. “Are you like really careful about what you eat?”
“Sometimes I’m like, I just want a hamburger,” Spears says. “But when I’m in real work mode, I want very clean. Just clean chicken and veggies. That’s it. My stomach is so sensitive. I have a steak and I’ll be sick for three days.”
Confused by the fact that she loves burgers but can’t eat steak, O’Dell asks, “What about the burger?”
“Burger’s fine,” Spears says. “I have the small burgers from McDonald’s. The Happy Meal.” Burger’s fine! Burger is fine. Burger. Is. Fine. Not since “Lucky” have I identified so strongly with Britney Spears.
