Ha! If this parent is compelled to consult an advice columnist because her teenage son enjoys "gross and obnoxious jokes", what is she going to do when she finds the Playboys under his pillow? [Star-Tribune]
Going off on a tangent here to say that many of the world's ills started with the phrase "boys will be boys," or my other favorite, "he's all boy!"
I hear parents/people say this all the time to excuse obnoxious behavior on the part of the child.
A boy socks my kid on the playground: "he's all boy!" Or my friend's son shoves my lamp off the table, "boys will be boys!"
No—your child is not being "a boy." He's being a rude little snit, and your using the phrase to somehow let him off the hook.
