Beyonce Draws Outrage for Using Challenger Disaster Audio in 'XO'

Beyonce is under fire for using audio from the 1986 Challenger Disaster in her new song "XO." June Scobee Rodgers, widow of the shuttle's commander, said she found Beyonce's use of the clip "disappointing."

"My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster," Beyonce said in a statement to ABC News.

"The song 'XO' was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you."

ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ : Bear Privilege is a Liberal Hoax

I mean... Discovery Networks just released a movie dramatization of the Challenger Disaster like 2 months ago that exaggerates mundane details for the sake of entertainment, and I don't remember hearing anyone getting in a tizzy over that. And while I'm not offended by either, I find amplifying drama for the sake of entertainment and money more disrespectful than using like 6 seconds of audio (not even a particularly poignant selection of the audio, all things considered) in a song that is making a serious statement. I could understand the outrage if it was some kind of flippant dubstep remix, but it's not.
