Beyoncé recently spoke to Good Morning America about the new vegan lifestyle that’s helped her lose weight. Now she’s looking to pay it forward (by, uh, convincing everybody else to pay for it).
Surprise: Beyoncé’s weight loss secret is to basically go vegan for 22 days. The special plant-based and carb-heavy diet was developed by Marco Borges, who insists that this program helps people jumpstart a healthy new habit. Beyoncé wrote/dictated the foreword for his book, The 22-Day Revolution, which has spawned tons of “I Tried It” posts, including this, this, this, this and this.
According to GMA, this is “the diet that made her more flawless than ever.” But all I heard was diets, diets, diets, diets, diets, diets, yes another diet.
In the pre-taped video above, Beyoncé is totally beaming from the neck up. “This is something I have to share with everyone,” she says on a bright sunlit day that can’t possibly be New York.
“I am not naturally the thinnest woman. I have curves. I’m proud of my curves and I have struggled since a young age with diets. And finding something that actually works, that actually keeps the work off, has been difficult for me.”
Beyoncé adds that the vegan approach pays off in many ways: “I felt like my skin was really firm, a lot tighter than when I deprived myself of food and got the weight off fast. And the weight stayed off.”
