Aren't We All Over Game of Thrones, Senator McCaskill?

Like you, Senator Claire McCaskill is over Game of Thrones after Sunday night’s episode. I feel the same way, but it has less to do with gratuitous imagery and more to do with being bored out of my skull.

The scene of Sansa being raped was brutal, but I’m not mad that they showed it precisely because I think a lot of people don’t yet understand that rape is brutal. Also, I didn’t interpret the scene as a glorification of rape, but rather an indictment of it, seeing as it was designed to be gut-wrenching to watch.

A big part of rape culture is a “boys will be boys” attitude towards assailants. Maybe showing how atrocious rape really is can help change this?
