Star of Jane The Virgin Gina Rodriguez won The CW network's first Golden Globe, grabbing the award for Best Actress in a TV Series Musical or Comedy and BOY was she excited! (As are we!) "This award is so much bigger than myself. It represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes," Rodriguez said through tears while accepting her award. "My dad used to tell me, 'Today's a great day, you can and you will,'" she said. "Well, dad, today's a great day, and I can and I did!"
Wow...The negative comments on this post, is astounding to me. So, lets see. We have a first time nominee, who probably had NO expectation of winning, and people are just tearing apart a very good speech.
You don't feel that she "represents" you and whichever speaking country you come from? Then, what she said wasn't directed at you. It's directed to those young girls, who will be glad to see someone that looks like them, who have an accent, a somewhat similar background and who at times, feel marginalized in this world. Sweet, lord.
