Amanda Bynes has had a difficult few years, and following a pretty public breakdown and a DUI arrest, the actress retreated from the spotlight a bit. But now, she’s back and promising more.
Bynes chose her first interview in four years to take place with Hollyscoop’s Diana Madison at the helm. This may be because Madison is known as a fashion blogger, and Bynes says she’s been studying fashion during her time away from acting. But Madison also just seems like a gentle presence who truly adores Bynes and wants her to have a nice experience. In the interview, Madison asks what Bynes has been doing the past few years.
“I’ve been going to school lately,” says Bynes, “Fashion school. FIDM [Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising], and I love it. I learned how to sew. I make patterns and I want to start a clothing line in the future. So FIDM has been helping with with that.
“I hike, I go spinning,” she adds, “I take spinning classes—I feed the homeless. And that’s been really interesting and fun.”
Bynes also has a pretty exciting announcement for fans of She’s the Man,
who are calling for a sequel.
“I do miss acting and I have something surprising to tell you: I’m going to start acting again,” Bynes tells Madison, allegedly causing her host to break out in goosebumps.
“I want to do TV, maybe some guest spots in shows I’m a fan of, and maybe another show I’m the star of,” Bynes continues.
At this point, Madison thankfully addresses at least one elephant in the room: Bynes’s notorious Drake tweet. Bynes admits that she is now three years sober, and seems to attribute her past behavior to drug use.
“I actually wasn’t being insincere,” she says, “I was saying, ‘Murder my vagina.’ I was serious but I was also on drugs. I was on drugs and I was trying to be cute.”
“What’s it like to get your vagina murdered?” asks Madison. “What’s it mean?”
“It just means—fuck me, Drake!” Bynes explains. Seems pretty clear.
From there they just talk about who is hot and who is not and the interview ends. Not a too terrible re-entry into the media world, if not the triumphant return fans might hope for. Baby steps.
