The DNC hack may have dominated the news cycle lately, but a far less important figure was also the victim of such an attack. Rachel Roy reportedly called the cops after having multiple accounts of hers hacked.
Roy should have and yet couldn’t have anticipated how much her life would be altered in the blink of one infamous Instagram post, where she appeared to have outed herself as “Becky with the good hair.” The so-called BeyHive—which in actuality is one-part Beyoncé fanatics and several parts trolls—bombarded Roy’s IG account with emojis. Digital threats were involved and, according to court papers, even an email hack.
TMZ reports:
According to docs, obtained by TMZ, Rachel called cops a few days later saying her Gmail and iCloud accounts had been hacked. She also said her cell phone number had been changed without her permission.
In the docs, Rachel makes it clear ... she believes all the trouble stemmed from that “Good hair don’t care” IG post.
Apparently, the LAPD has a search warrant for access to Roy’s email and phone history to locate the source of the hack. The culprit could be anyone, but TMZ reports humorously that “the working theory is the perp goes buzzzzzzz.”
