Sharon Hailey Aceta, an 8th grade math teacher at Rawlinson Road Middle School in Rock Hill, South Carolina, posted a sarcastic and highly inappropriate Facebook status update after Obama won a second term as President earlier this week:

"Congrats Obama. As one of my students sang down the hallway, 'We get to keep our fooood stamps'...which I pay for because they can't budget their money...and really, neither can you."

She's since deleted her status, but a tipster from the area said the screen shot is circulating around the community and that the school refuses to address it or contact parents who are upset. The administration is probably hoping the controversy will pass soon, since Rock Hill is a conservative place. Healthy learning environment, right?

I don't even believe her story about the child singing that song in the halls. Kids are generally not proud of being poor. The poor are shamed in our society and made to feel awful for their poverty even if they are working two jobs to try to make ends meet. Kids are especially ashamed of being poor. Poor kids are picked on and saying you're on food stamps opens you up to ridicule. She made this shit up. I want her to produce one witness to this singing because if she heard it, then surely someone else did. Which student was singing it? I'm willing to bet it was no one. She's an ignorant dummy trying to gin up fake controversy.
