Surprise! Gay Conservatives Make Just as Little Sense as Straight Conservatives

The very first guy in this video scoffs at himself when he says, “I’m gay and I’m conservative.” That might have made for both a poignant and pithy video, but don’t despair — there are plenty of self-described gay conservatives on hand to offer such mystifying opinions as, “I believe the government should stay in the government,” and “I want government out of people’s lives altogether.” There’s a case to be made for limited federal government (or checks on the federal government’s undisputed dominance, which is what I’m guessing most conservatives mean when they say, “Boo, government!”), but the whole point of a governing body is to, you know, govern, meaning that it will very much be in people’s lives, knitting them all together. Besides, according to its platform, the Republican Party very much wants to be meddling in people’s lives.
