    I...think this is fun? I would totally go there? Gardens + sexy art = yay to me, I guess.

    I mean, if it were my park (WHICH WOULD BE AWESOME), I would do add some stuff.     The issue here you miss (perhaps by not being an Asiaphile) is that this park is on Jeju Island. In China at least (my area of "expertise"), there's a common problem of sexualizing the national minorities and fringe cultures, to make the Han Chinese appear more "civilized."Jeju Island (I'm pretty sure) is like Hawaii for Koreans, except that, because it's "less civilized" as well as tropical, it's seen as a place of more relaxed sexuality/sexual morals. #nsfw

    I think its interesting that Love Land only seems to have statues of white people. That to me seems like a bigger problem than the objectification (which some aspects of sex is about objectifying, women do it to men, men do it to women (admittedly is more of a problem with the objectificatino of women in mainstream culture), or male domination as there seems to be a more variety in the types of partners, genders, domination. But the whiteness of the statues in a Korean (right?) amusement park is more problematic. #nsfw

    @badmutha - Korea's attitude toward things sexual is interesting; on one hand, prostitution is a huge part of the culture (a few years back the Korean Feminist Association estimated that between 500,000 to a little over a million Korean women are involved in prostitution, a huge percentage in a country of a little over 70 million). On the other, the societal stigma for engaging in premarital intercourse is still strong, especially for women, as is the censure directed at single mothers. Attitudes are changing among the younger set but as @hortense alluded to in her post, during my time there I found it to be very masculine-focused.

    @heykoukla - Totally; also who knew this would be such a hit with middle-aged Korean women? Just judging from the pics the average age of attendees looked to be about 35.

    @I Like Pickle: Thank you, these are interesting. It looks like the large woman/little man sculptures are a series, or at least a triptych. I don't think it helps that in the third one he gets away. It looks like #10 is also part of a series, and there's a very interesting penis garden.

    I think it's not really accurate to say that the men are specifically in "control" in a bunch of the statues you say that of. The size differentials are one thing, and weird, but the threesome isn't inherently about control--one woman is solely pleasuring the man, but the man is also solely pleasuring the other woman. The women aren't held down or being dominated in any way--even if you think of oral sex as inherently about control (which I don't), it's going both ways. I think the 2F 1 M fantasy is definitely more of a male fantasy, but that's different than control. Plus, there are a bunch of female-centric statues--the masturbation one, and the one with 3 women that you love, and the clam one, which I saw as a non-exhibitionist masturbation statue, one that IS very woman-centered.

    But yes, the one with the large woman and emaciated man is HORRIBLE, as are the dismembered bodies, particularly the buried one.
