• Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has decided the best way to lead the country while thousands of people are protesting the fraudulent elections is to tell them to shut up, accept the results or risk a violent crackdown. [MSNBC]

• Following a call from his mom, Dorothy, that she was siding with Sarah Palin, David Letterman made a heartfelt and un-joking apology for his joke last week. Palin accepted, reiterating they both have the right to free speech. [Associated Press]

• Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has told supposedly-defeated candidate Mir Hussein Moussavi to pursue his complaints about election irregularities "calmly," while Iranians continued to march in the streets, more leaders declared the elections invalid and forces continued arresting people. • Last night, Sarah Palin ended up stopping by a Republican fundraiser that she was scheduled to headline, dropped out of and tried to get back into when her 2012 rival, Newt Gingrich, took her slot. [Washington Post]

• Stephen Colbert taped his first show from Baghdad yesterday, allowing General Ray Odierno to shave his head, declaring victory and not watering his act down in some insincere effort at sincerity. [NY Times]
