    I was hoping for Luci/y!

    Ah well, not as common a name as Lisa.

    I went to high school with a Lisa that I still talk to, and she is very laid back and friendly. I have an Aunt Lisa who is a complete and total psycho, that I haven;t seen since I was a small child.

    Sooo, I'm 50/50 on Lisa's. #lisa

    I love this feature. Names are so different in the US. Lisa isn't particularly common here in the UK and I think of it as such a perky and fun All American name.

    The only British Lisa I have ever met was a terrifying and very judgemental almost stereotypical second wave feminist. There was nothing perky and fun about her (but she was very interesting.) #lisa

    @Tambar: Yay, a Tamara! I usually look for that in name dictionaries because I'm a Tamari. My name's very specific to my mother's tribe in the Eastern islands of Fiji and I haven't been able to find out its meaning or origin. #lisa

    @Penny: As a self-obsessed Lisa, I know every song with my name in it and this is one of my favorites. See also: Lisa by Prince, Losing Lisa by Ben Folds, O Lisa by Weezer, and of course, Lisa songs by the Simpsons. "Lisa, your teeth are big and green; Lisa, you smell like gasoline," is something I hear way, way too often. #lisa

    Lisa makes up the first part of my name, a variant on Elizabeth, so I've always pronounced it "Lih-sa" not "Lee-sa."

    I can't think of one Lisa I've ever met, it was really more popular before my time, I guess. I think I give off the ditz vibe when I introduce myself as "Lissie" rather than by my full name. I definitely blame Lizzie McGuire for this. #lisa

    @katie.scarlett.o'hara: wow. i'm an a elizabeth and have never met another (ok, i'm assuming here) american elizabeth/elizabeth variant who went by lisa but pronounced lissa. i thought i was the only one.

    my step-sister is a real lisa and she totally fits the make-up stereotype. for the majority of her life, her job has been "mrs. dr. successful." i think i would probably get bored with that job within a few weeks, but it has looked pretty fucking good at other times. which makes me think she might be more than mascara and personal shoppers after all. #lisa

    The only Lisa I ever knew was extremely boring, shallow, a back-stabber, and actually surprisingly fit what you said. Although I'm sure there are perfectly wonderful Lisa's out there, I haven't met any yet. :( #lisa
