I love the lady in the blue jean top. You can tell by her face that there is a super-specific question on the tip of her tongue, and that she's the kind of person who asks it without raising her hand, going to the mic or waiting for the "lecture" portion to be over.
@danadevin85: Because when Obama took office, we were secretly given the deed to the country. Muahahahaha angry white folks, it's all ours now. That's why we own everything and have the best health care and get to walk around with guns yelling at the government without getting arrested, unlike white peo...HEY WAIT A MINUTE! I think we've been bamboozled. Off to check the fine print on my Kenyan Government issued deed to the U.S.
@Valkyrie607: Yeah, where's the incoherent sobbing and irrational word salad? Don't they understand how bad it would be if the government took over Medicare?
@dbelnav: Pretty sure she was making a joke, contrasting the calmness of the people in this picture with the shouting and vitriol happening at the almost all white town halls we've mostly been seeing televised, the irony being that these same shouty people would accuse all minorities of being hostile or unreasonable.
And we're finally getting our 40 acres and a mule. I've picked out the 40 acres along the Malibu coast. I plan to graze my mule in Brangelina's front yard.
I am pleased that they are finally ditching that "Czar" thing. Man, "Drug Czar" was bad enough, but remember when they wanted to make a "War Czar"? That's some crazy shit.
I'll make a shamelessly bold prediction now: there is no way that the auto bailout passes the senate. If the Republican party blocks any aid to Detroit, not only is it politically popular, it might also make the economy worse, which would be great news for Republicans.
I went to high school with Carol Browner but have no memory of her. It was a big school, about 900 people in my graduating class.
At the 20th reunion, one of her friends took out a half page ad in the reunion book to congratulate her friend on her EPA job. All she would talk about during the reunion dinner was her friend Carol. I thought it was sad that 20 years on, that person's major achievement in life was that in high school she knew someone, who some day would have a high government job.
Hoho! Now Don Young's under scrutiny! Surprising noone in Alaska. Wow, It's a real change of the legislative guard underway up there. Keep digging folks, Yon Dung's got plenty of skeletons to find.
If the auto bailout really is going to be a loan (not that I like it) can we start calling it that? "Bailout" makes me stabby, along with many other things today.
What? Americans are giving rights to foreign brown people we suspect of wrongdoing? You mean we're respecting our constitution and basic human decency? Color me shocked!
I have tickets to a ball. The gown is at my local Korean tailor's getting hemmed. I have an apartment within walking distance from the Capitol lined up.
@Crabby Cakes wants some Dance Biscuits.: There won't be anything left for the machine after Patrick Fitzgerald gets through with him. Seriously, I think Fitzgerald is going to eat him with a knife and fork.
@vamusical: True. Even my family's home in Arlington seems too far away and I'm scurred of what the Metro will be like, so I'm staying near McPherson Square so I can walk to the craziness if I have to.
@ManicPixiePoliticalGirl: Me too! I debated leaving town, but never really got that together. So I guess I am staying and walking around town, probably pushing tourists out of the way on my walks to Whole Foods or my job and whatnot. I am a native New Yorker, I cant help it.
@Gundam_Halo: I am so excited about this! My bf is working on his Physics Phd, and Chu went to our undergrad, so we are just so excited about this. It's inspirational to him to see scientists getting some love. It's sad how much of a shock this appointment was, I guess I get so used to oilmen and Sarah Palin touted as energy experts.
An apt comment from a Huffpo commenter:
"Well I think we need a little less SCIENCE in our energy policy and a little more JESUS. Jesus saves, and therefore Jesus saves energy! That's how we'll save energy. We should spend less time driving and more time praying and looking down on minorities."
