@PaintedTrollop: I'm great at Trivial Pursuit. I'm apparently terrible at picking a name, though, because I still haven't found one that works. #trivialpursuit
I love the Fail Blog videos after you answer each question. My favorite so far is the old woman crossing the street who whacks the guys car with her bag when he honks at her to walk faster. You tell him, Feisty Old Lady!
Also, is it just me or are these questions all way easier than real TP questions? Maybe because they give you a hint. I'm blowing through the Arts & Literature questions, and half of them seem to be about Sherlock Holmes and 1984. #trivialpursuit
Ok, I'm just going to put this out there. There are different kinds of intelligence. All intelligence can't be measured by a trivia game like this. THAT BEING SAID... Trivial Pursuit does not just require rote memorization, it requires the ability to make educated guesses based on the information one has. Even if you have not memorized a fact you can figure it out by logical reasoning, which is a skill that is required to be a truly good player. Some of these questions are so specific that it is very unlikely that many people will know the answer because of memorization. Maybe I'm taking this too seriously, but as a Trivia Queen, I sometimes get tetchy. #trivialpursuit
Okay, so when you start... and you have to choose if you're a man or woman... after you choose woman the man-icon goes off to the corner and drops his pants... WHAT!?!? Why does he do this? And what does the lady-icon do if you choose the man option? (I can't because I already chose the lady option.) #trivialpursuit
I once won a girls vs boys game of this in high school by correctly naming Speed Racer's girlfriend (Trixie). We had bragging rights until graduation for that one. #trivialpursuit
@pear.shaped.Sara: Sometimes in high school, 4 of us in my science class used to play the game boys v. girls. My shining moment of glory was knowing what 80s sit-com character Matthew Broderick was slated to play but turned down for the roll of Ferris Bueller. I had to do all variety of mental gymnastics to get there, but going "ALEX P. KEATON!" was a memory for the ages. #trivialpursuit
Whatever, it is the rare man who can beat me at Trivial Pursuit. The only person who's ever given me a run for my money is my father and as he used to point out, that's really only because he has an extra 26 years of life on me and remembers a lot of crap when it FIRST happened.
@Zombie Ms. Skittles: That is impressive. I can't play trivial pursuit for the life of me. I remember lots of random information but I also tend to forget lots of things. Like that group of people who average over six feet - heard it many times and still don't know it. I am more about broad concepts and not actual details of names and the like.
I won't play because it makes me feel stupid. Which is why I totally admire you and your skills. #trivialpursuit
@Elaken: The downside is that it's hard for me to find people to play with. My brother brought a Trivial Pursuit game to visit once and there were five of us, so we teamed up as couples and I was odd man out so I had to play against my brother/his girlfriend and my mom/step-dad. I STILL won. And then everyone kept pointing out that they had gotten really hard questions.
Whatthefuckever, y'all. I didn't WRITE the questions. #trivialpursuit
@Rose.Selavy.Needs.A.Drink: Close! He's 50. But I'm 23, so I only remember the second half of the 90s and a lot of the questions end up being about 70s and 80s sitcoms and old sports stuff. #trivialpursuit
@Zombie Ms. Skittles: Well played. I actually have been known to put on internet dating profiles "You must accept the fact that I can and will kick your ass at Trivial Pursuit". I've been on Jeopardy, I have the cred to back my smack talk up. #trivialpursuit
I can actually answer this. Girls are smarter. I know this from the many games of trivia I won vs my younger brothers. (Intimidation tactics may have been used, which just goes to show how strategic I am!) #trivialpursuit
