It's been really hot here in New York. For those of us sans AC, really, really hot. Personally, I've been lounging around in a kimono like something out of a Tennessee Williams play. And one can only assume that "Nikki Midtown", where the 19th Annual Pre-Daytime Emmy Awards Party (or APDEAP, as it's known on my couch), was really hot too. So I'm going to try to go easy on the following collection of daytime stars, many of whom seem to have been enticed by Hot Topic's superior air conditioning. And hey, haven't we all? Crimes Against the Mammaries: Nominees Crush, Contort And Maul Their Breasts In Quest For Daytime Excellence
The Nominees' Luncheon for the Daytime Emmy Awards (held at "Charleston Restaurant" in LA) made it hard for me to adhere to my new, 'if you can't say anything nice' no-criticism policy. Because, as a woman with breasts (that is to say, a need-er of underwire), I hate to see them treated with disrespect, and many of the actresses who follow (and, with the exception of ANTM Eva Pigford, they're all actresses) were guilty of flagrant disregard for my feelings. Stars Wore Their Budget Best At The Rogan For Target Party
Last night, Barneys New York in Los Angeles hosted a party for the debut of Rogan For Target. Rogan, the company known for its $250 jeans, is teaming up with Target so us mere middle and lower-class mortals can get our hands on "designer" denim. Attending the party were stars of film and television: Marcia Cross, Rachel Bilson, Sanaa Lathan, Felicity Huffman, Becki Newton, Amy Smart, Gabrielle Union, The Hills' Whitney Port and many more. Sex And The City Premiere: Hats & Gowns & Shimmer, Oh My!
This is the event that needs no introduction. The premiere of the Sex And The City movie took place yesterday in London. Not New York. And there were British stars and hats and many different interpretations of "red carpet" style. B-List Stars Wear B-Plus Duds At Wango Tango
The KIIS FM Wango Tango show took place in Southern California on Saturday with acts like Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, Danity Kane and The Jonas Brothers. Walking the red carpet were B-Listers Kim Kardashian, Shar Jackson, Ryan Seacrest and, um, Lindsay Lohan. Seriously, is she A-list anymore? Concerts are not formal events, but the "creative" ensembles sported by some of the attendees were truly awful. Tribeca Film Festival: The Stars Dress Up For Robert DeNiro
It's officially springtime in New York. (And no, not just because it's an insane 78 degrees today.) Last night marked the opening of this year's Tribeca Film Festival, the indie showcase masterminded by Robert DeNiro and producer Jane Rosenthal in an effort to reinvigorate Lower Manhattan and the New York art community alike. In addition to DeNiro and his gorgeous wife Grace Hightower, David Bowie, Iman, Martha Stewart, Donna Karan, Russell Simmons, Porschia Coleman, Sigourney Weaver, Natasha Richardson, Gayle King, Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, and others were on hand. Helen Hunt Finds Birth Mother, Pretty Dress At Film Premiere
Helen Hunt: She's not just Jaime Buchman, she's a very serious director. Hunt's latest fare is the adoption drama Then She Found Me which, a la Streisand, she doesn't just direct, but stars in as well. Last night's New York premiere featured the film's cast (Bette Midler, Salman Rushdie, Matthew Broderick) and their supporters, including Gloria Steinem, Heather Matarazzo, Bernadette Peters, Ricki Lake, Mamie Gummer and Jerry & Jessica Seinfeld. Stars, T-Shirts Come Out To (Hip) Hop The Vote
If you're reading this and you're living in the state of Pennsylvania, for the love of God: Please vote tomorrow. Clearly, the hip hop community shares my sentiments, as the National Hip Hop League staged a Vote 2008 event in Philadelphia yesterday, encouraging young adults to get off their asses and head to the polls. Leading the charge was none other than Russell Simmons, who recruited stars like Ciara, Lil Mama, Flo-Rida, O'Neal McNight, poker players Diane Nguyen and Heather Smith, Emily King, Rocsi and Valeisha Butterfield to his cause. Last night, Conde Nast Traveler hosted a party to celebrate its 8th annual "Hot List" and the maybe-pregnant Ashlee Simpson, left, was there looking pretty as can be. (And not really pregnant at all.) Also there: Adrien Brody, who remains lovable despite the fact that he oozes douchiness. Fun & Fugly Fashions Were On Display At The Lisa Kline Store In L.A.
Party-loving publicist Jonathan Cheban launched his Kritik clothing line at the celeb-friendly Lisa Kline store in Los Angeles last night, and Spring was in the air! How could you tell? For starters, the red carpet was pink. And the Hollywood ladies rocked their little dresses (or shorts) with huge smiles on their faces. Too bad some one the frocks made us frown.
