    I mean, in theory, I have no problem with this statement. I think she is a opportunistic diva who is profiting from her own ignorance and hatred and her past behavior casts serious doubt on her sincerity here.     @FrannyR: Actually, the Jesus-related bits do the opposite. Check Jesus' own mom informing him that he's going to do a miracle and him obeying, Mary and Martha coming out of the kitchen, Mary Magdalene, the Samaritan woman at the well. And then there are the women involved in the fledgling church, including Phebe, Priscilla, Lois, Lydia, etc.

    Also, I don't think Deborah, Ruth, Judith, or Esther really STFU either.

    The interpretations that misogynists have made may try to ignore this, but it's in the text. #carrieprejean

    @lurkerbynature: It's even more fun if you dip into the apocryphal texts, particularly the Gospel of Mary Magdalene. A lot of talk of her being the Disciple of the Disciples, and above all other disciples, closest to Jesus. It made the point that she got it better than the guys did. Which thrills my feminist heart. #carrieprejean
