Plus-Size Model Clementine Desseaux Is New Face of Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin has revealed the new face of their lipstick line to be French plus-size model, Clementine Desseaux. This is the first time the luxury brand has used a plus model in their campaigns.

In an interview with Daily Mail, the 27-year-old model discussed her new role for Louboutin, saying “such a big French brand using a curvier girl for her face is a big step.” The design house, known for their iconic red-soled footwear, had entered the beauty business in recent years. Louboutin first introduced a nail polish line in 2014 , then added a lipstick collection this year.

“The beauty norm is changing and differences that used to be weaknesses are now turning into strengths,” said Desseaux, who moved to New York from Paris after not being able to find modeling work. “Being curvy and freckly was never easy back when I was in France. Now beauty is changing and brands are putting girls that are different in the spotlight. They are opening up to all the beauty that is in the world and not only the European, blond, skinny, white woman type,” she added.

Clementine Desseaux also appears in the forthcoming plus-size modeling documentary, Straight/Curve, scheduled for release in September 2016.
