Comment of the Day: And Now, a Very Awkward Moment of Silence

Latest

Although this comment from ThirdBowlOfCereal comes to us a little tardily, its credentials as a 9/11 humiliation story of Farrelly Brothers proportions are impeccable. Maybe NBC shouldn’t have devoted yesterday’s moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. to a discussion of Kris Jenner’s booooobbbbzzzz, but at least Savannah Guthrie didn’t empty a pickle barrel of loose change into a Coinstar on national television:

I wouldn’t be so hard on NBC. On the first annv of 9/11 my husband thought it would be a good idea to bring his big jar of change to the supermarket and run it through one of those super loud change sorting machines (not as a memorial exercise – he just had a lot of change). Anyway, this being a supermarket in the NYC area, the mgr came on the intercom at 8:46 and asked everyone to join in the NATIONAL moment of SILENCE. Yep, he had just poured the whole jar in. So while everyone else bowed their heads, he was sheepishly standing by the machine going ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching…..
