You know what’s a really nice way to cool off in the summer? Watching one of your many, many servants chip away from a giant tractor tire of ice so that your mint julep can be nice and chilly. Nobody likes a lukewarm mint julep, least of all Tom Buchanan. Moving The Great Gatsby back to an almost-summer release suddenly seems like a great idea, if only to ensure that every high school English teacher in America will be available to begrudgingly attend more than one screening and mourn both their thwarted literary ambitions as well as the corrupting influence of Hollywood on American arts and letters.
