Tattoos Are the New Hot Reality Show Stars

Latest

Thirty-nine-year-old TV producer SallyAnn Salsano has a bunch of reality shows under her belt, including Design Star, A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila and megahit Jersey Shore. But her latest project for Oxygen doesn’t have a Snooki or a Situation as the star: It’s all about tattoos.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Salsano’s in-development program, Tattoos After Dark, “showcases the antics that take place in late-night tattoo parlors in party towns.” There’s a chance that it — plus another program in development, Break Up Tattoos, — will both be coming to the Oxygen network shortly. A network that already has a tattoo-related show, Best Ink. Which has been doing well on Oxygen:

May’s run of Best Ink, hosted by Pete Wentz, helped drive a record month for the network that saw its most-watched night (May 21) ever.

In case you haven’t noticed, there have been a ton of tattoo-related shows on TV lately. Spike has Permanent Mark, Nightmare Tattoos and Ink Master; TLC ran Miami Ink, LA Ink, Tattoo School and America’s Worst Tattoos; Black Ink Crew is a Harlem-based show on VH1; A&E has a show called Inked. Still! I’d watch the crap out of Break Up Tattoos — which “reunites former couples for the opportunity to re-do a tattoo that once represented their relationships.” Ouch slash heartbreak slash drama.
