@mepo - Robert Cornhole invented it: Actually, only AusNTM's Alice Burdeu has done that. And I think it was probably a fluke. The producers actually passed on casting Myf Shepherd in a subsequent season. Myf walked for Givenchy, Gucci, and Balenciaga, among many others, this spring.
For some reason I can't quite put my finger on, it makes me happy that Jason Wu is making dolls. I just think that's really neat. And as for Gap, I dunno. I have some stuff from there I bought last summer. The best purchase was a pair of white jeans from their 1969 label, they were seventy bucks-but they actually FIT!! Unlike every other pair of pants I have ever tried on there. See, their size 2 fits me ok, except for the waistline OH DEAR GOD IT'S CUTTING OFF MY CIRCULATION. So I gave up on their pants after having wasted good dough on shit I couldn't wear after washing because everything stayed the same size EXCEPT FOR THE BOA-CONSTRICTOR WAISTBANDS OH JEBUS IT'S LEAVING DENTS IN MY SKIN. Anyway, those white jeans are awesome and I look forward to wearing 'em once the weather warms up. Other than that, Gap is pretty yawn-inducing.
When this NY Top Shop news started flowing I was confused because I was in the UK at the time and I had no idea what Top Shop was, so I asked my dear friend and she was like "You've been in Top Shop hundreds of times, stop being ridiculous." So the next time we were out she took me there and pointed out that it was actually a Top Shop to which I said "Oh! This is the store-we-always-go-in-but-never-buy-anyt...!" And she said "Exactly."
Call me when the states start getting Primarks. That will be trendy store news.
@greengrey: This looks to be part of a widespread set of issues. If you cannot reply directly, you can copy all the stuff in the reply box, reload the page, then insert it into a normal comment box. That's how I've done it.
@Trulymadlyme: I used to love the GAP for its basics. A solid pair of jeans, khakis, button downs, and skirts kept me well clothed. Old Navy was the more outgoing store, and BR was always classically elegant.
Then GAP tried to be fashionably basic by introducing the same button down shirt with ruffles, ties, and bows. Then the color scheme got ridiculously bright. Then they tried to be fashionable, period and turned off all the people who wanted basics. Now it reminds me of Old Navy plus $30.
@Trulymadlyme: Yes! It used to be an easy go to for basics, but now I wander in during my lunch hour, feel confused, and leave. Like, I'll look for cute pencil skirts for work, not see any, look for cute cheap tank tops for summer weekends, only see overpriced ones in awful pastel colors, shake my head and feel disoriented.
Does anyone remember when VH1 ran marathons of Australia's Next Top Model and Britain's Next Top Model? That was so awesome. Those girls were ten times more fucked up in the head than any contestant on the American version, and that's saying something.
@Trulymadlyme: Yep. They also lost their "it's cool to wear GAP clothes" factor. I remember when I was 13 or 14, everyone *had* to have at least one GAP denim skirt (because the school I went to required us to wear skirts). I was not the most fashion-forward teenager, and I even had one. Still have it somewhere, actually. (Have it. Don't wear it.)
@Abra: I'm on the same boat...her dresses were cute, if not on the cutting edge of fashion, but I wouldn't even think about buying them because they were so overpriced. So if Kohl's sells them for $30, I might consider buying.

And ... I am starting to like Audrina and LC. Vapid? Yes, at times. Clueless? Yes, at times. But with hearts of gold, people! ;)
So, I welcome yee LC into Kohl's, where I sometimes try and shop but leave empty-handed and frustrated.
