    I hate jeans because they're really, really, really hard to find in my size and length. They were agonizingly difficult to find for less than $150 when I was thinner, and they are even more scarce now. Mail-order can only do so much.


    Granted, I'm working on losing a few pounds so I can get back into the few threadbare jeans that once fit me without looking like uber-short wader capris. But seriously, they're just not all that forgiving if you fall significantly outside the "standard" for most human females (read: I have a 36" inseam and hips from here to Armageddon.)


    I kind of want to learn to make my own clothes.

    @tscheese: Being pocket-sized with hips for days ain't so great either. I hate special ordering shit online.


    That said, clothing manufacturers: Some ladies have hips, a bounty of them in fact. Please design accordingly. kthxbai.

    I'd always like to wear better clothes than jeans all the time, and be more like my hero and heroine, Lord Whimsy and Lady P. ([www.lordwhimsy.com]) but I always find it harder than it should be. I think I need to train myself to shop differently, or something. I've just been so trained to automatically think "jeans then shirt" in the morning it just HAPPENS.


    Also shoes. My feet are not only so tiny I have a hard time finding shoes that are in my size (size 5 - I could use Narrow but nobody NOBODY makes narrow shoes anymore, not even naturalizer) and my feet are so sensitive I can't be standing in heels for more than 40 minutes before I'm ready to chew my feet off. And that's 40 minutes cumulative, not all at once. I can't even buy a nice pair of ballet flats because my feet are so skinny, the way they make them now they fall right off my feet when I walk.


    I don't really know where I was going with this before it turned into a tirade. I guess the point is I agree that it would be nice to dress better more often, but I fail at it.

    @jianna: Try Ferragamo or Belgian shoes for narrow sizes. From thrift stores, obviously! Otherwise those labels will run you hundreds. But they actually do a good job with the AA, AAA, and even AAAA sizes.

    I don't get the recent spate of denim hatred among the fashun-people. I wear them all the time. Mine are well-made, expensive ones, mostly remnants of my days of solvency. The most recent ones I acquired are Joe's brand, and I am in fact wearing them today. They're really soft and summery, and ankle length so I can wear them in hot weather as I pretty much loathe shorts. Jeans are versatile and can be dressed up or not, and if you find a brand that fits, you can pretty much wear them till they fall apart.

    I wear jeans just about everyday and I would not if I could find a decent pair of nice fitting pants. Mass producers cater to outfitting their customers to jeans. Therefore, when I do come across a nice fitting, long-enough pair, they cost, oh, $297. (Thanks, Athropologie)

Yesterday, I was looking at a book that I believe was published by the ad firm that handles the Dolce & Gabbana print ads. It was completely shocking to see all of their ads all in one place and to see how creepy and misogynist they are.
