    I was at work at the bookstore this morning, and roundabout 11 'o clock people started calling and coming in asking for Malkin's new book, Culture of Corruption, so I figured she must've been on some show this morning. I wanted to smack some sense into all the people buying it, because it's vile, but alas. I can not.

    It was really weird, though, because every person who asked for it posed their request like so: "I'm looking for this book. *Passes me slip of paper with title.* Are you sold out?" It seemed weird the first time, because why would we be? We had 7 or 8 copies on the new arrival table. Then I realized that they really think it is SO GOOD and SO HONEST that everyone must be clamoring for a copy! *headdesk*

    She looks almost exactly looks like my cousin, except my cousin doesn't suffer from a mad case of self-loathing. Someone mentioned Dave Chapelle earlier. Malkin reminds me of Chapelle's blind black leader of the KKK ranting on and on about the blacks without being aware that he's black himself.

    She just seems really mad. In my opinion if you identify real issues based on fact, you don't need to be so aggressive in making your point. It makes itself. She just seems like she's on a warpath which makes me tune her out immediately.

    I watched Glen Beck the other day, and I think there's the same (crazy) undertones to it. I feel like they're castigating people for believing what appears to be well documented facts (President Obama was born in America, Michelle worked hard, there are problems with race and healthcare in the country), only to tell them something different, with crazy eyes and yelling and outrage. It makes me stabby.

    @BearDownCBears: No lie, last month I was in court for an argument and one of the cases ahead of us was a plaintiff who argued that the WTC was brought down by the govt using "high-energy weapons." The lawyer angrily said "my client is being treated as if she wears a tinfoil hat!" Gee, I wonder why?

    @amusezvous: What really bothers me about that statement is that:

    1. The term "diversity" is not used literally, but mockingly. Diversity is seen as some sort of pollution in our society, as if it were a bad thing.

    2. They are incapable of comprehending the fact that White, Rich, Christian Males DO TOO vote based on their own backgrounds and prejudices. Biases are not exclusive to racial minorities.

    It's baffling how so few people are able to grasp that last one.

    @Mafalda para Presidente: This. That last one always, always angers me. Even my white, male, rich father went ballistic when they tried to claim Sotomayor would base her judgments on biases. I've never seen him so angry.As he put it : "what the fuck do they think Alito and Scalia are doing on the bench?" But apparently, to these wingnuts, that's the status quo.

    @Grim Reaper of the Forest: that's what is so weird. like if he is some stealth manchurian candidate who only pretended to be post racial and all, why would his big coming out party be this throwaway comment at a press conference?
