Tomorrow, I'm going to have a fundraiser for PETA from my house. We will gather on folding chairs on my patio and I'll tell stories about celebrities that I either made up or stole from In Touch. My roommate will be shackled with a sign around her neck that says "I'd rather be waterboarded than wear fur." Light vegetarian hors d'oeuvres (Cheez-its and Crystal Light) will be served. Cat massage demonstration begins at 7 PM sharp. Afterwards we will simulate oral sex on vegetables and bedazzle bricks to throw through the windows of local butcher shops.
$500 per chair, $1500 for a table of 4. Includes brick.
@CrossWord: She was so kick ass! She parted with the daughters of democracy (me thinks) cuz they wouldnt let our national treasure marian anderson sing at the concert hall. She was all u can sing in front of MILLIONS! I love me some eleanor!
She's been practically invisible her entire "term" as first lady. I don't really feel one way or another about her, but she sort of resembles my grandmother, so I've always generally liked her.
@funnyface: Agreed! And oddly enough, I think she looks like my maybe hopefully future mother-in-law. Well, a cross between her and Carla Bruni. It's the cat's eye thing they both have, with ridic cheek bones.
I'm not trying to defend the Bush administration, but for accuracy's sake, the biggest financial meltdown in history was the depression. Let's try not to compare now to the apocalypse please.
On a different note, I couldn't care less about Laura Bush, and am pretty psyched for the new first lady.
Eh, if she chose not to get involved in the political machine, good on her. She seemed perfectly happy to be involved in her own activities, doing exactly what she wanted to do,so I doubt she missed much.
I've always thought she was kind of boring. Who's against literacy? Nobody! But as the years have gone by, I've grown to pity her more than dislike her. I wouldn't want her life, money or no money. I don't feel like I could be her, or be friends with her, or be enemies with her.
But Michelle Obama is my kind of woman. I like her a lot. I don't care if she's ever involved in policy decisions. I just admire her and wish I knew her. She doesn't strike me as anybody's little wifey. They seem to have a marriage based on mutual respect and admiration and love. Next to Laura Bush, she just plain seems to exist more.
@TheFormerJuneBronson: Who's against literacy? I am. And just for that, I will not read the rest of you comment. (But I just have to say, yes, Laura Bush seems insufferably boring. Just like Barbara.)
@union lizard: Agreed. He is a complete ass, wrote an assy article spewing assy ideas. All because he is an...say is with me people... an idiot. (Gotcha!)
I hate to sound ignorant, but I'm hard-pressed to think of anything that she actually did in the last eight years. She's kind of a benign non-entity to me.
She seems like a sweet lady with God-awful taste in men. I anticipate promptly forgetting her about 10 minutes after the moving van pulls out of 1600 Pa. Ave.

She also had a huge role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Sad personal life for a looooong time, but sounded like she rocked it out after "retirement".
