Kylie looks so awkward doing this dance - there is something about the way she does the arm movements that doesn't seem quite right. Her legs are a little weird somehow too.
This may come across as incredibly ignorant, but how did India evolve from the culture that produced the Kama Sutra into one where kissing on film (or in public) is viewed as indecent? I'm genuinely curious.
@LAmonkeygirl: To paraphrase another, earlier commenter on this subject: Because cultures change and mores change. More specifically, I think it has to do with the influx of other cultures into native Indian culture, such as Muslim influence or even British colonial influence. Also, the fact that there are mixed audiences (read: male and female) at the movies, not to mention the fear of corrupting the poor little kiddies...
But never fear, the multiple clips of wet saris during monsoon season will make up for that. ;)
Honestly, you all should go see a collegiate bollywood dance competition. There's collegiate teams all across the nation, and its growing still, and if you want more information on them PM me. Those dances are such a blend of creativity and talent. One of the criteria they are judged on is originality, so you see a lot of new choreography with just a touch of stunting. It's so amazing seeing the "bollywood-ness" without the assistance of camera tricks and whatnot.
@Jeenzy: Many of these intercollegiate competition dance numbers are on youtube as well. If anyone is interested in watching Canadian team numbers, search for "SAA" or "WICSA" and a list of different universities should show up.
I recently started taking Bollywood and Bhangra dance classes and I feel like SUCH a bandwagon poseur, but damn it, those classes are amazingly fun. So yeah, thank you India, as Alanis would say.

As ladyM2000 said, a lot of it has to do with the influence of Islam and British colonialism.
