Whats the alternative, keeping the old system were you are not insured if you can't afford private care? Is there another suggestion?
Don't they know that there are quite a lot of nations that have government health care and state pension systems and it works more or less satisfactory. (it is awfully expensive, that's true)
Nobody goes around euthanizing the elderly to save taxes.
And, where does the pro choice argument tie in with all that?

The attitude of the anti-abortionists is pretty easy to understand: they don't want any tax money (their money) to pay for anyone's abortion and they'll use any tactic they can to undermine our right to have one, no matter how big a lie it is. #sarahpalin

I roll down the window and scream, "GODDAMNIT YOU LIE SPREADING IDIOTS! YOU ARE EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY. YOU ARE WRONG! WRONG! FUCK YOU AND YOUR REPUBLICAN BULLSHIT!!!" at which point I drove away.

What are you protesting, exactly? The fact that you're white and wealthy and that the entirety of our nations' systems and standards have been designed by you and for your benefit?
Funny story--back in 2000, I drove by a small group of anti-recount protesters who were in favor of GWB stealing the election. I was on a traffic circle, and was about to reach my exit in heavy traffic. Instead, I decided to roll my window down and shout "BUSH is SATAN!" at the top of my lungs. Now, I don't even believe in Satan, but I had to put my message into words these people could understand. One of them actually dropped his sign (mission accomplished! and I don't mean that in the ironic Aircraft-Carrrier-Stuffed-Crotch-Fake-Flightsuit-GWB way!) and began approaching my car. The other cars on the circle starting beeping at him and yelling for him to get off the road. He did, but apparently one of the other motorists called the cops on him anyway for disturbing traffic. Totally worth an extra 30 minutes to get back around to my exit. #sarahpalin

And I'm so frustrated because it's almost impossible to convince anyone who thinks being Pro-Choice is anything like what she's saying that it's not. It's the polar opposite.
I absolutely do believe women are capable of doing those things, as long as there's a system in place that helps make that possible. But I also believe no woman should be forced to carry to term. Because I wouldn't want anyone to be forced to abort. Is that so hard to understand? That choice is about ALL of this? It's about being able to have an "imperfect" child without having to suffer for it? About not being forced to, but being able to choose to?
And to be frank, life at any cost is not, in my opinion, always the most compassionate view. There are birth defects, deformities, and congenital conditions that it is in every way a compassionate decision to terminate.
People can choose not to, but I'm tired of the idea that Pro-Choice is some kind of callous position.
Further, I want our elderly folks to be cared for. I'm sickened by the way we abandon them and are so afraid of that stage of life that we just shuffle off the responsibility. Being Pro-Choice hasn't hampered my ability to understand all the ethical nuances in both situations. And I'm disgusted that this woman would make such a suggestion.
It's just so wrong to to say these things. So wrong and awful and destructive. #sarahpalin

I just can't fathom equating one with the other. Being Pro-Choice doesn't make you inhuman or unethical or not compassionate. I'd actually argue that, because being Pro-Choice requires taking a much more difficult political position...and because advocating for choices will always be advocating for something technically more difficult than having things required/dictated of you...then you're more likely to be compassionate and ethical and understanding of nuance. Because you have to be. That's pretty much the nature of choice, in any circumstance. #sarahpalin

P.S. I'm pretty sure that if she did have a mind, her "mind-set" would consist of aerial wolf-hunting, sports journalism, and the distrust of logic. Words cannot express my growing dislike for this human being; her and her redneck family single-handedly display everything that is wrong with our culture today.
