Gator Bait is downright, absolutely, incredibly AWESOME. It was the first movie the Alamo Drafthouse played when they started their Weird Wednesday free (at the time) midnight obscure movie series back in 2001, and it's one of the most enjoyable ones I've seen in that series so far (along with the underwater Nazi zombie movie from the late 60s/early 70s that I can't recall the name of that played a few weeks after Gator Bait).
I really love these films, and would love to see something like this happen in NYC. Although it was made by a man (but strong enough for a woman), "Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!" is in my top three favorite movies.
The women in that are strong, witty, and not about to take shit from any man.
Also, check out "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" for a kick ass soundtrack by the all-female group, the Carrie Nations. Wonderful.
Whaddya say, New York Jezzies? This sounds like a meetup plan to me. Surely there is some campus we could persuade to lend us an auditorium for the evening...
I'll have to check these movies out - I flat-out LOVE 60s and 70s exploitation films. My favorite ever is this one called "I Spit On Your Corpse," whose director actually didn't go on to more respectable film projects - he became a real-estate mogul and was murdered and buried in his own bathroom by his contractor.
That Gator Bait trailer is perhaps the best trailer I have ever seen, in that it gives away the ENTIRE movie, pretty much, but still makes me want to see it anyway.
@hortense: Epic. Absolutely epic! I half expected something like "Then there's this scene where she tells her friend that she needs to go take care of something!" "I need to go take care of something."
My favorite part is...
Narrator: ...raised to hate!
Man: *pause* DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!

(Note: I may have commented before actually watching the trailer, and now I'm REALLY disappointed that she isn't some alligator-woman hybrid.)
