Sienna Miller Made News for Not Doing Something

Latest

Actress Sienna Miller made news for something she isn’t doing. Acting, acting is what she’s not doing and she’s no longer doing it in Johnny Depp’s upcoming Boston crime biopic, Black Mass.

In the film about real life Boston crime lord Whitey Bulger, according to the Boston Globe, Miller was cast as Bulger’s girlfriend Catherine Greig. But when the film reached editing, all of Miller’s scenes and presumably traces of Greig were omitted.

Director Scott Cooper said “It came down to narrative choices” and focusing on Bulger’s murderous years in Boston before he escaped to California where he hid for nearly two decades with Greig.

This probably sucks for Sienna, a Brit who took dialect lessons from a speech coach to perfect her Boston accent.

“Up until the day before I flew here, I couldn’t do it and it sounded stupid,” she said. “And I was sort of religiously watching every film ever set in South Boston: ‘Good Will Hunting,’ ‘Gone Baby Gone,’ ‘The Town.’ Catherine had a thick accent, so I hope I do it justice.”

It should be interesting to see how they cover Bulger being given up by Greig who is currently serving a eight-year-bid for aiding a fugitive. As for Sienna, we know she’ll find another gig, she’ll be fine.
