Rashida Jones Corrects Dum-Dum Reporter: 'I'm Ethnic'

On Sunday night on the SAG Awards red carpet, Rashida Jones—star of Parks and Recreation and the upcoming procedural comedy Angie Tribeca—was unlucky enough to encounter what might be the dumbest pair of TV presenters of all time. (Your move, Ryan and Giuliana.)

“You look like you’ve just come off an island or something,” TNT’s Danielle Demski told Jones. “You’re very tan. Very tropical.”

What Demski seems to be forgetting is that Jones isn’t “tan,” she’s biracial. The actress, with the patience of a saint, did her best to correct the misinterpretation, deadpanning, “I mean, you know, I’m ethnic.”

“Me, too,” added co-presenter JD Heyman, proving, among other things, that he doesn’t have a complete grasp on how words (or race) work. The correspondents followed this up by laughing too hard and forcing Jones into a terrible game of improv.
