Pregnant Woman Disappears Right Before Giving Birth

A Salisbury, North Carolina woman named Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther was scheduled to give birth via C-section on Tuesday morning, but vanished right before she was supposed to head to the hospital. The 49-year-old woman’s daughter, Lauren Lusk, was supposed to drive them to the appointment. Bradshaw-Crowther told Lusk to go to the gas station to fill up before the trip. When Lusk returned less than 10 minutes later, her mother was nowhere to be found. The door to the house was unlocked with all the lights turned off and her mother’s car was gone.

Bradshaw-Crowther’s makeup and purse were still in the house after she vanished, but her wallet and cellphone were missing. “It’s not like her,” Lusk told NBC News. “She likes to keep up her appearance.” Lusk checked with the hospital they were planning to travel to, but her mother didn’t show up. The baby’s father hadn’t heard from her either.

The pregnancy is also extremely high-risk. Because Bradshaw-Crowther has vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a condition characterized by the spontaneous rupture of vessels or organs, she cannot give natural birth. “If she does go into labor she won’t make it,” Lusk explained to WSOC TV Channel 9. “She was happy, being her goofy self and singing, making up songs about how she was going to have a baby that day,” said Lusk. Bradshaw-Crowther was last seen at a convenience store about 25 miles from Salisbury.
