Monitoring the Media's Coverage of Men's and Women's Sports

Latest

A new blog monitors main strem media’s coverage of women’s vs. men’s sports, and it’s miiiighty grim.

So far, Scoreboard for Equality monitors The New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today. As you can see above, the grey lady isn’t a slam dunk for women’s sports. I wonder if you factor in how many women’s teams vs. men’s teams there are in existence, how large the disparity is? But also, if there was more coverage of women’s sports, perhaps there would be more women’s sports? It’s a conundrum, but these numbers are abysmal and depressing.
